Perched directly above one of Jersey’s most beautiful beaches, this restaurant enjoys uninterrupted views across golden sand and sparkling sea.

On a sunny afternoon, the terrace feels positively Mediterranean, while as evening approaches, diners gather with cocktails in hand to watch the sand turn hues of pinks and peach in the changing light of the setting sun.
Oyster Box has established itself as one of Jersey’s premier seafood restaurants, celebrating the exceptional quality of local island produce. The beachside location means the connection between sea and plate is always at the heart of the experience.

WHAT’S ON THE MENU?
As the name suggests, oysters are the stars of the show. Jersey Rock Oysters are harvested from the oyster beds at Grouville on the island’s south-east coast, where some of Europe’s largest tidal movements help create ideal growing conditions. The island’s famously clean waters and the oysters’ short journey from sea to plate ensure exceptional freshness, and Oyster Box serves thousands of them every year.
The classic choice is shallot vinegar (£9 for three), but those looking for something a little different can opt for chilli and ginger oysters (£10 for three) or grilled Kenney-Herbert oysters topped with bacon, tomato and Gruyère (£11 for three). I enjoyed them as they come, with shallot vinegar and a glass of fizz as the sun was setting – perfect combination!
Local seafood naturally dominates the menu. The Jersey crab cake with Pommery Mustard sauce and pickled lemon (£16) is packed with sweet local crab, while hand-dived Jersey scallops served with local cider, basil and parsley sauce (£19 starter) were juicy and delicious.

The seafood tagliolini (£37), brimming with scallops, crab, mussels and squid, brings together the array of seafood found around the Channel Islands in one generous dish. When I visited, succulent local lobster was on the menu, and with gentle persuasion from the waiter, I was lucky enough to sample it – freshly caught and lightly cooked in a modern take on a thermidor sauce.
If you have room for a dessert, try the delicious Catalan crème brûlée infused with orange and Cointreau (£11.50) or a beautifully executed apple tarte tatin for two (£16).
HOW’S THE MOOD?
Floor-to-ceiling windows maximise the spectacular views across St Brelade’s Bay, while the contemporary coastal décor creates a bright and welcoming atmosphere. During the warmer months, the terrace is one of Jersey’s most coveted dining spots, particularly at sunset when the sky turns shades of gold, pink and amber over the bay. The sunset when I visited was stunning, and Oyster Box is an ideal place to watch it from.

NEAREST BEACH?
You couldn’t be any closer to the beach of St Brelade’s Bay. Many locals told me it was their favourite beach on the island, with its crescent-shaped sweep of soft golden sand, bookended with pine trees and lined with a pretty promenade for a stroll before supper.
OPENING TIMES?
Oyster Box is open throughout the year. Opening hours may vary seasonally, but generally lunch and dinner are served Tuesday through Sunday, with extended evening service on Fridays and Saturdays.
