Alex Fisher stays at an elegant four-star Victorian hotel in St George’s, Llandudno

WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
Named as AA Hotel of the Year for Wales in 2015, this elegant four-star Victorian hotel has added a series of stylish roof-top rooms which overlook the sweeping bay. Each room has its own private balcony, so you can now breakfast from these lofty eyries, enjoying an uninterrupted view of the waves lapping around the Grade II-listed pier. While you’re here, take a cable car to the Great Orme Country Park, a protected nature reserve on the outskirts of the town.

ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
King-size bed, Smart TV, Ruark Hi-Fi, Elemis toiletries, fridge, and a pair of binoculars to make the most of the coastal view.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
These Deluxe Sea-View Rooms with Balcony (The Rooftops) are spacious and decorated in a clean, contemporary style, with a colour scheme of coastal greens and blues. They have sleek, modern bathrooms with large, walk-in showers and separate baths, his and hers sinks and towelling robes and slippers.

BEST SEA VIEW?
From The Rooftops you have a panoramic view directly over the sea.

HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
The Terrace Restaurant is open from 6pm to 8.45pm and offers fine dining with a focus on local produce, with dishes ranging from a seafood platter to a wild mushroom risotto. The most economical way to eat here if you are staying at the hotel is to book a dinner, bed and breakfast package. The Terrace Lounge offers a more relaxed setting and serves a great afternoon tea.

WHAT WILL IT COST?
Prices per room per night for The Rooftops rooms start at £274 including breakfast. Prices for other hotel rooms at St George’s start from around £99 in low season.
