Emma King, the sales director at OceanSaver, is leading the charge in bringing plastic-free, ocean-friendly cleaning products to households across the UK.

The ocean has always been a huge part of my life. My grandfather was born in Cornwall and every summer as a child, without fail, I spent time on the Cornish coastline. It’s where I disconnect, recharge and feel most at home. In the summer, I take my niece and nephew, and teach them to bodyboard. We also spend hours rock-pooling – just like I did as a child.

That love for the sea is what drives me at OceanSaver. I’m passionate about protecting our oceans from plastic pollution and harmful chemicals, which is why we’re creating cleaning products that are just as effective as leading brands – but without damaging marine life. People may not realise that traditional laundry capsules, dish tabs and cleaning sprays contain ingredients that harm aquatic ecosystems. We’re here to change that.

At OceanSaver, we focus on plastic-free, plant-based solutions. Our refills eliminate the need for single-use plastic bottles, and we use recycled ocean plastic to make the ones we do sell. It’s about making small, simple swaps that have a big impact. Even on Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches, I see plastic waste washing up daily. It’s devastating, but also a reminder of why we do this. OceanSaver is building the UK’s first ocean-first brand in supermarkets, and every bottle, refill, and tablet sold brings us closer to a cleaner sea.
