WHAT’S THE BUZZ AT TINWOOD ESTATE?
Tinwood Estate, a family-owned and run vineyard nestled at the foot of the South Downs near Chichester is already renowned for its award-winning English sparkling wines – but less well known for being an idyllic setting for a weekend escape.

In early 2024, Tinwood opened five luxury vineyard lodges, expanding its offering to a total of eight. Each lodge has stunning views over the vines, a private outdoor terrace, and peaceful countryside surroundings, which you can explore on the bikes provided.

WHAT’S ON THE MENU AT TINWOOD ESTATE?
If you are staying for the weekend, you can now book an amazing Sunday roast. Served in the tasting room, the locally sourced, hearty fare comes with all the trimmings, including cauliflower cheese, mashed swede, roast parsnips and Yorkshire puddings, on a generous sharing platter for two. The price of £33 includes dessert, which is again a sharing platter, offering a selection of delectable puddings, perfect for people like me who can’t make up their minds. When we visited, they served fruity mini-crumbles, lemon curd meringue tart and chocolate mousse!

Alongside the food, guests can enjoy a wine-tasting experience showcasing Tinwood’s sparkling wines: Blanc de Blancs, Brut, and Rosé. During the week, they offer a light tapas menu to accompany the wine tastings.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE AT TINWOOD ESTATE?
The lodges are stunning. All are detached and have a private deck overlooking the vineyard, where you can watch the sunset with a glass of fizz. They have superking-size beds dressed in Egyptian cotton sheets, huge walk-in showers, double sinks, and a two-person Jacuzzi bath. In addition, there is the usual wifi, Nespresso coffee machines and air-con. Breakfast is brought to your door in a delightful wicker hamper for you to unpack and enjoy in the privacy of your own lodge. When we visited this included soft-boiled eggs, buttery croissants, toast served with the estate’s own honey, and chia pudding.

Guests can also make use of the estate’s oak-barrel saunas or borrow mountain bikes to explore the surrounding area.
WHERE’S THE NEAREST BEACH?
If you’re in the mood for sea air, West Wittering Beach is just a 20-minute drive away. This popular spot on the Sussex coast is known for its expanse of white sand, iconic beach huts, and wide open views – perfect for a walk, swim or picnic on a sunny day.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
Lodge stays at Tinwood start from around £275 per night for two guests, including a breakfast hamper served in your lodge. A Sunday roast is £33 per person and includes a main and dessert. Wine tastings are £21 per person and include three glasses of wine and a tour of the vineyard. They run daily at 3pm, with extra sessions at weekends.
