Autumn is a great time to holiday on our coastline. The sea is still warm from the summer sun but the beaches are quieter now that the kids have gone back to school, and you often still get gorgeous bright, sunny days, blue skies and fabulous sunsets.
In this special section I’ve focused on staycations that are particularly good to plan for the autumn. These might be because that’s when seals are pupping, birds are migrating or towns are buzzing and cool enough to enjoy. One of my favourite places for an autumn staycation is the Isle of Wight, and I’d like to thank them for joining with us and sponsoring this section. I’m lucky enough to only live a few hours from this popular destination, and although the journey to get there is short and simple, I always feel like I have travelled to somewhere much further afield when I arrive. There are oodles of stunning sandy beaches, lots of excellent restaurants with amazing sea views, glorious gardens and fascinating historical buildings to discover and explore. If you find yourself there this year, do contact me and let me know your favourite location. Have a wonderful autumn!
