The prestigious Turner Prize is coming to the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne, Sussex. Former winners of the art prize include Damien Hirst and Antony Gormley, and its arrival marks a highlight of Sussex’s ‘Towner 100’ centenary celebrations. Alex Farquharson, Tate Britain director and chair of the Turner Prize jury, said: ‘Towner Eastbourne is one of Britain’s most exciting galleries, with a fantastically diverse exhibition programme and world-class collection of modern British and international contemporary art. It marks the first time the prize has been held in Sussex, an area that has inspired generations of artists.’ The exhibition runs from September 2023 to January 2024.
