Discover the best of the Island on foot with the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, taking place between the 9th and 22nd October

Sign up and take part in this friendly celebration of walking, adventure, and the great outdoors this autumn.

Walk it with family, take a stroll with friends and connect with like-minded new people in the great outdoors. Take a stomp through the countryside and stop off for a pint, hunt for hidden treasure with a smugglers trail for the kids, reconnect with nature and learn about the Island’s thriving wildlife or make a spooktacular night of it with a ghost walk! There’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Most walks are free and suited to all ages and mobility, ranging from the longest walk exploring 18.5 miles from the ‘Eastern Yar Source to Sea’ over two days, to the shortest – a rock pooling and fossil hunting discovery walk along the beach at Fort Victoria.

There are over 50 walks already confirmed and 100 walks planned, all taking place daily over two weeks in October – from sunrise starts with the dawn chorus, to stargazing into the night.

Embrace the Great British weather and muddy puddles for stomping, and windswept beach walks with a hot chocolate. Awaken your senses with a crunchy stroll across a red carpet of fallen leaves, a fresh salty breeze and the glow of the autumn sun on your face. Pack your walking boots and wellies, layer up your woollies and enjoy the beautiful Isle of Wight landscape at this special time of year. The best way to see the Island is on foot!

Choose from a variety of fun themed walks; longer hikes for keen explorers, walks for children, relaxed strolls with a pitstop and marches across the downs. All routes are led by friendly walk leaders, ready to share with you their favourite island beauty spots and trivia.

Spots available for each walk vary and are limited, so make sure you sign up soon to be a part of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival. Keep an eye on isleofwightwalkingfestival.co.uk for updates and offers for walkers.
