This new hotel on the south coast has become the talk of the town. Words: Alex Fisher

WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
Designed to mirror the shape of a cruise ship, this glitzy hotel opened at the end of last year and it’s the talk of the town. With harbourside views, a rooftop bar and an excellent restaurant, it’s hugely popular already, so book your table well in advance.

ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
The hotel has a sumptuous spa with an indoor pool, steam room, Jacuzzi, mud room and candlelit treatment rooms, but the most luxurious touch, in many ways, is the superb service. From the moment you arrive at reception, to the spa, to the bars and restaurant, expect to be looked after as you would be in a five-star establishment.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
There are lovely splashes of bold colour in the design, with deep navy and bright orange sitting comfortably together. All 85 bedrooms have complimentary gin and sherry, bath robes and slippers and White Company toiletries.

BEST SEA VIEW?
The Marina View Suites have private balconies with panoramic views over the marina. There are also great views from the restaurant and bar.

HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
Chef Alex Aitkin serves a sublime seafood menu based on sustainable local produce. Dishes include Alex’s twice-baked cheese soufflé, smoked haddock, saffron and leek risotto, followed by warm chocolate and salted caramel mousse with raspberry sorbet. WHAT WILL IT COST?
