Our content editor Madeleine Barber stays at The Anchor Inn

WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
It’s all about location at The Anchor Inn. This newly refurbished pub with rooms perches above the shingle shore at Seatown, which is located in a valley just south of Chideock. Head east along the South West Coast Path and you’ll find West Bay, look west and you’ll lay eyes upon the famed Golden Cap, which delivers a chocolate-box view at sunset.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
There are three uniquely decorated bedrooms. I stayed in ‘Golden Cap’ – with rustic chests, driftwood lamps, vintage writer’s desk and a bay window that lends itself well to time spent gazing out to sea. You’ll find intriguing ship paraphernalia throughout, too.

ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
Lots! Think fluffy white robes and slippers, The White Company toiletries and a large roll-top bath with claw feet. The king-size bed with pillows aplenty and soft white linen simply adds to the plush, boutique vibe.

BEST SEA VIEW?
From the beer garden, which has 180˚ views of Lyme Bay. When it gets chilly, pop in to the restaurant, where diners can enjoy romantic meals with more romantic views.

HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
Try a breakfast of champions. I had smoked haddock with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on a bed of ciabatta, which was a fantastic start to the day. The Anchor Inn also has mouthwatering lunch and dinner menus, but for a real taste of the sea, order from the specials board, which offers a host of freshly caught fish.

WHAT WILL IT COST?
Prices for a double room start at around £150 per night, based on two people sharing.
