Editor-in-Chief Alex Fisher discovers the Beachcroft Hotel's luxury Beach Hut Suites

WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
Located on the edge of Felpham Beach, with uninterrupted views of the sea, the Beach Hut Suites are a luxurious, modern addition to the more traditional Beachcroft Hotel. Beautifully designed and equipped with all the mod cons, including Netflix-enabled smart TV, a Nespresso coffee machine, a Smeg kettle and fridge, and super comfy beds, they have their own private entrances, making contact-free travel easy. Each of the four ‘huts’ can accommodate up to two adults and two children in a mezzanine master bedroom and a second bedroom with bunk-beds. There’s complementary hire of two adult bikes for the duration of your stay, perfect for exploring the seven miles of flat, coastal path that extends from your doorstep. For me, the absolute winning touch was the floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors that open out to your own private decking area, where you can eat your breakfast as you watch the sun rise over the sea. Absolute heaven.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
Beach-hut blues combine with flashes of colour provided by woollen throws and Art Deco-style seaside prints. Luxurious and comfortable, and with all views looking towards the sea.

BEST SEA VIEW?
All four of the suites have their own private decking area, which looks out onto the coastal path and the pebble beach. The mezzanine floor and a carefully placed porthole window means that you can also see the sea from the main bedroom.

HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
The Tamarisk restaurant at The Beachcroft Hotel, which sits just behind the beach huts, is excellent. Here you can dine on delicious dishes such as beetroot-cured salmon with compressed cucumber, tapioca crisp and chive oil or perhaps a grilled fillet of sea bream with dill mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables and vanilla butter, but I loved having my breakfast delivered to my hut in a hamper, so I could eat my fruit salad and croissants without having to tear myself away from the sea view. In the evenings, you can order fish and chips to be delivered to your door too, in environmentally friendly cardboard boxes. These come with a portion of minty crushed peas and, to be honest, were as good as any I’ve ever eaten, with crisp, light batter and fat flakes of firm white fish – the perfect way to finish a day by the seaside. If you’re heading off on a bike ride for the day, the hotel can prepare a delicious picnic, with crab sandwiches and mini bottles of prosecco, so you can make the most of your adventure.

ECO-CREDENTIALS?
The Beachcroft Hotel and Beach Hut Suites support and encourage an eco-friendly environment. It has stringent recycling and waste management rules, use of banana leaf plates and wooden cutlery, along with other items made from recycled materials to reduce plastic waste.

HOW ACCESSIBLE IS IT?
You can find the hotel’s access information online here. There are two clearly marked disabled parking spaces in its free car park at the closest point to the entrance, however The Beachcroft and beach huts are not equipped for those with severe mobility issues. There are plans to develop disabled accommodation and a purpose-built disabled toilet, for which planning permission is currently being sought.

WHAT WILL IT COST?
The Beach Hut Suites start at around £237 on a B&B basis per night based on two people sharing.
