The Basset Arms has recently reopened its doors following a thoughtful renovation by the Carbis Bay Collection, bringing new life to this much-loved gastro pub in the charming seaside village of Portreath.
Housed in a prominent 18th-century building just steps away from the beach, the pub has been part of local life for generations. The relaunch celebrates that history while introducing an elevated standard of food, service and warm hospitality.
Guests can enjoy a menu that champions seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, with a focus on traditional British favourites and Cornish specialities. Dishes include West Coast mussels, Cornish crab and the classic Stargazy Pie, alongside comforting pub staples such as battered hake, steaks and burgers.
Inside, the interiors combine period charm with modern comfort, while the redesigned garden provides a welcoming space for outdoor dining during the warmer months. For those wishing to extend their visit, three coastal-inspired en suite bedrooms offer the chance to experience the relaxed charm of a traditional Cornish pub stay.
THE PRIZE
The winner and one guest will enjoy a two-night stay at the Basset Arms on a bed-and-breakfast basis. The prize also includes one three-course dinner for two with one bottle of house wine (any additional costs to be paid by guests).
