Alex Fisher visits the spa, hotel and restaurant at St Brides Spa Hotel, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
Probably the best sited pool in the whole of Wales, the stunning spa and infinity pool overlook the sea and sandy beach at Saundersfoot. The restaurant offers superb local seafood and the hotel’s elevated location guarantees panoramic sea vistas from most windows and terraces.

ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
There are double treatment rooms in the spa with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to sea. Robes and slippers are provided in all rooms, as well as WiFi, DVD player, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The spa uses lovely products by Voya, and shouldn’t be missed.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
Modern, coastal, stylish: wood paired with aqua and eggshell stripes. All 34 rooms have slightly different décor, and there are also six two-bedroom serviced apartments, that sleep four guests in each.

BEST SEA VIEW?
There are sea views from the restaurant, spa and many bedrooms. Some of the Best Seaview rooms have balconies big enough for a table and chairs.

HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
The restaurant, which has uninterrupted views of the beach, is excellent. The menu is modern British, using local produce where possible. I had plump scallops with cauliflower, then mouth-watering poached Pembrokeshire lobster served with new potatoes, aioli and lemon. The hotel offers some good dining packages.

WHAT WILL IT COST?
Double room on a B&B basis from £160 per night.
