Madeleine Barber eats at Crustacean in Weymouth, Dorset

WHET MY APPETITE
If you’re a fan of fine, fresh and fantastically presented seafood, you’ll want to add Crustacean to your restaurant bucket list. Head chef Rikas Salmi is known for his unique styling and talent in French cuisine, as well as for introducing his Sri Lankan flair to British seafood. All the restaurant’s fish is sourced from local suppliers, so the day’s catch hops straight off the boat in Weymouth marina and into the Crustacean kitchen.

WHAT’S ON THE MENU?
I started with the Coquilles St-Jacques Parisienne, followed by a dish of sea bass ravioli, lobster rossamre, king prawn and monkfish doge, and spinach ravioli served with shellfish consommé. Other expertly cooked fish on the menu includes crab, lobster, tuna, salmon, squid, plaice, oysters and mussels – it’s a delectable seafood feast, so if you can’t choose, opt for the fish or crustacean platter to relish a taste of them all.

HOW’S THE MOOD?
Busy and bustling with chatty waiters and happy diners.

CAN I SEE THE SEA?
Not quite, but you only have to walk 100m east for Weymouth seafront and the beach or 100m west for the marina. It’s the perfect location for a post-meal stroll.

WHAT’S THE DAMAGE?
Starters cost £5.95 and upwards, and mains start from £13.95 going up to £25.95 for the platters. All desserts cost £6.50.

OPENING TIMES
Open seven days per week, 12-9pm Sun-Thurs, then 12-9.30pm Fri and Sat.
