1. THE SALT ROOM
Opened in February 2015 by Razak Helalat and his team, who also run the award-winning The Coal Shed, The Salt Room has taken Brighton by storm. Focusing on sustainable seafood and grilled meat cooked on a charcoal grill, it offers simple tasty dishes made from the highest quality ingredients. READ MORE

2. PORTHMINSTER CAFÉ
Excellent local seafood combined with freshly picked herbs and vegetables from their own kitchen garden. We tried the Seafood Linguine, which was packed with Cornish crab and mussels. READ MORE

3. COAST SAUNDERSFOOT
Situated at Coppet Hall Beach, grand flavours match up to the majestic scenery, with a wide variety of creatively presented local seafood meals. READ MORE

4. LA REUNION RESTAURANT
La Reunion Restaurant occupies an early 20th-century building that was formerly the Rockmount hotel. After the refurbishment – headed up by local Guernsey interior designer Michele Hilton – the space now features panoramic windows and a chic, striking décor with blown-glass lamps, Victorian-style floor tiles and neon chairs. 5. AMÉLIES
This stylish restaurant, which overlooks the harbour in pretty Porthleven, serves fish and shellfish from the local fishermen, along with pizzas made in their wood-fired oven. READ MORE

6. RICK STEIN’S, SANDBANKS
Despite only opening in November 2015 the restaurant is fully booked on the evening we visit. The mouthwatering menu offers the most tempting set of starters I’ve seen for a long time: Cornish Crab Wakame with cucumber, dashi salad and wasabi mayonnaise, Seared Scallop Succotash with crab meat, mussels, Serrano ham and chives or Jamón Ibérico de Bellota. 7. ROCKFISH, PLYMOUTH
The Rockfish slogan ‘tomorrow’s fish are still in the sea’ perfectly sums up Mitch Tonks’ restaurant’s ethos and commitment to sustainability. It serves the local catch – one day this might be lobster and lemon sole, on another day bass, mussels and plaice. READ MORE
